What are some of the reasons for lawn mower running too rich?

 I have 657 John Deere Quik Record lose Mower for commercial use. It is a 23 hp Kawasaki appliance. It is blowing blackish smoke from the wrap and has lost 50% power. The air sift is clean. Someone please tell me how to fixing up this and prevent it from recurring

 sounds like either the discourage suppress is stuck on, or the carbs are spotted and need to be cleaned or rebuilt. First id i would do is trace the choke rope back and make sure that it is in the off rank. After that start looking at the carbs, i am not very proficient with them but you can try to adjust the screws
