What's wrong with "hard-rubber (solid rubber) tires? Why don't we still use them and when did they stop them?

 Are they still to hand? Are they unsafe? I know infinitesimal about cars, but I was just inquiring.

The only weakness i've had with slime, is that here in the hot dry, if you let it sit over the summer and don't kill, it can get hot enough in the garage to "merge" the slime guts the tube, and when sedateness suffer hits, it tends to interruption globbed up propitious, causing a big imbalance, thus i had to supplant a few tubes last year as i had let the bikes sit for over a year.
