I live 30 miles north of Atlanta do I need to winterize my riding lawn mower?

 Can I start a legitimate once a month or more. Should I add a stabilizing gas, etc. .. or should I completely winter. First riding mower and I need to run it next season with the expenses of the green time for repair.

What are the pros and cons of a standard riding lawn mower and a zero turn lawn mower?
